Selfportrait 12/20, 200x160cm, 2020

This painting has kept surprising me every time I've been working on it. It's all about the profound dreamer I am.

To me, dreaming is like entering a very personal, hidden room. Whatever it is one finds in there, it certainly can't be forced into brushstrokes, colors or forms. I believe it wants to find its own way onto the painting. The painters job is to support it by being sensitive and to give it passage by protecting it from the rationality of the conscious, for example by playing.

In any case: Don't be afraid to stop thinking because thinking is forcing and unnecessary. It's all there.
